Discover CSW's Boarding Program

Hello from CSW!

We're so glad to know that you're thinking about joining us as a boarding student here at CSW and we look forward to sharing more information about all our program has to offer.

With four dorms and about 90 boarding students from around the world (16 states and 8 countries outside the US!), the intentional size of our program allows Residential Faculty the time and space to get to know each student as a person, see them for who they really are, and help them develop skills and autonomy. Each student is connected with up to five adults and two student leaders they can turn to for anything from homework help to advice.

We enjoy a safe, 65-acre campus surrounded by woods and natural conservation land, and are just 12 miles from Boston and Cambridge and all they have to offer. In addition to on-campus activities each weekend, we have off-campus trips to Harvard Square, museums, cultural festivals, leadership conferences, Celtics games, theatre shows, community service, and much more. These activities are included in tuition and are open to both day and boarding students—which is just one of the many ways we build a strong community at CSW.

But don't just take it from me! Click through the student profiles on this page to learn more about what it's really like to be part of the boarding community at CSW. Have fun exploring, and please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about our Residential Life program!

Warmly,

Jane Reynolds

My dorm leaders were among my first friends when I started at CSW. They took me under their wing and showed me what life at CSW was like; they invited me to sit with them at dinner and play cards with them. Their kindness made my transition as a boarding student seamless and fun, and is largely what inspired me to become a dorm leader in my senior year.

Boarding at CSW has been one of the best experiences for me, and having teachers on campus all the time has been a valuable resource. I also really appreciate having extra access to our facilities—as a boarder, it was easy for me to design a capstone project that involves working in the science labs after school.

    Jose, Boston, MA

I consider my doormmates as brothers—I know they will always be there for me, and I also really look to my dorm parents as actual parents, because they not only teach me in class but also take care of me. I feel so grateful for this community—there are always people nearby who I am comfortable talking to and who really understand me.

One academic benefit of boarding is being able to ask dorm parents and dormmates for help when I get stuck on homework, and being able to practice my Mandarin with native speakers. In addition, since I don't have a commute, I have more time to devote to homework and clubs. Structured study hours give me dedicated time to do homework, and I have extended access to campus facilities like the Art Building or Music Wing, which is really helpful.

As an international student, the boarding experience here helped me to transition smoothly and blend into CSW's inclusive community. I have never attended a boarding school before, but having family dinners, talent shows, All Boarders Weekend, and really fun dorm traditions made CSW feel like home.

As a boarding student, I feel more connected to the campus and to my peers and teachers. My roommate is like my sister—making me tea, having long, deep talks at night...and my math teacher is one of my dorm parents! I see her at dinner and in the dorm, in addition to math class. Being a boarder not only allows me to seek math help in the evenings, it also allows me to have a stronger relationship with her.

As a new boarding student, I was really nervous about adjusting to such a new environment. But the minute I stepped on campus, there were so many people welcoming me, smiling at me, and saying, "if you need anything, just ask!" Being a boarder at CSW, it's been so easy for me to integrate into the community and find my place. I never felt new—it was like I had been living there forever!
